It doesn t matter what year it is or whether this band calls itself All or the Descendents (a previous incarnation with a different singer), they ll still make the same record, year after year. And that s not a bad thing, considering that the album they ve been remaking for more than 10 years pretty much defined the term pop punk. Groups such as Green Day and Bad Religion owe a huge debt to this band, and it s only because of their success that All have finally been signed to a major label. Pummel is musically as good as any of their previous records, but unfortunately it contains some lyrical inconsistencies that are a little disturbing. Each of the members contribute to different songs, but drummer Bill Stephenson s lyrics are the most troublesome of the bunch. Where he used to write goofy, bittersweet love songs about falling in love, he has turned bitter, mean-spirited, and, despite what he thinks, homophobic. In Uncle Critic he writes, You re always printing shit about me / You re still years behind me / So if you ve got anything to say to me / Say it to my face / Don t call me homophobic. Yet later, in Hetero, he proclaims, What a fucked-up world / Or is it my fucked-up head / The only way you re cool / Is if you re gay or dead.--Adem Tepedelen

Amazing - I don t know why this is out of print. Here, ALL shows true talent. While Stevenson s lyrics are disturbingly homophobic on the 2 songs mentioned in the review, the honesty is a bit remarkable, and the rest of the disc shines. ALL/Descendents truly created a genre now besmirched by bands like Good Charlotte and Simple Plan when they combined pop hooks with punk attitude. The raw honesty on this release however, puts the processed hits of those bands to shame. Simultaneously rocking and gutwrenching, the songs on Pummel mark the crest of the original emo/punk/hardcore wave ALL shared with bands like Jawbreaker and Lifetime. A must-have for anyone who is a fan of the Descendents, Bouncing Souls or any other true pop PUNK bands.

Simply Stunting - Breaking Up and Long Distance may sound a lot a like but totally rock!! These have to be two of the best ALL songs ever another really strong track the last which is another one of my favorites!! Just great tracks everywhere highly reccommend this cd to any punk fan!

WOW - I really liked the old singer with great songs like Just Perfect really catchy. But this cd is like musical anger it really brings out the gothic sense of ALL. At least to say the least the more agressive less fantasy world. This album is very catchy but there is a small lack of new ideas whitch definately is mad up for in the lryics. You have to get this cd is you like love songs and you like hard rock.

incorrect info... - This isn t really about this album, in particular, but about the difference between All and The Descendants. They are not the same band. They are the same 3 people, but the Descendants have Milo on vocals. Always. All and the Descendants tour on different years. I saw the descendants one year, and All toured about two years later. They are two different bands.

ALL finally has their wheels again - On All s second full length release with vocalist Chad Price, they have hit the ground running. A gruntier heavier sound is found when compared to previous albums, mostly due to the guitar and bass being tuned a half step down. This works just fine with Price s emotional, powerful singing style. Backing Price up is one of the strongest rythym sections in punk rock. This includes bassist Karl Alvarez, who s bouncing, round, four-string lines drive the band forward. Drummer Bill Stevenson keeps thing rather subdued on this album when compared to previous efforts, and Stephen Egerton s guitar playing is, as usual on the edge of insanity. Although the album does have a few ill fitting, grunge type songs, it redeems itself with plenty of good, mature, alternative punk. Standouts are Miranda, Million Bucks, and the instant All classic, Long Distance. This is what pop-punk should be!
